How to Make a QR Code Payment With PayPal

To make a QR code payment with PayPal, open the latest version of the PayPal app and tap the QR code icon in the upper-right corner. Allow camera access if requested, then point your phone at the merchant’s or recipient’s PayPal QR code.

After PayPal recognizes the code, verify that the correct recipient or business appears on the screen. Enter the payment amount, select your preferred funding method, and choose the correct payment type. A purchase should be identified as a payment for an item or service when that option is available. Review the amount and recipient one final time, then tap Send.

Some PayPal QR codes can also be scanned through your phone’s regular camera app, which may open PayPal or a PayPal checkout page. Do not send money when the recipient’s identity looks unfamiliar or different from the person or business you intended to pay. Completed PayPal payments generally cannot be canceled simply because the wrong recipient was selected.
