What is safer, Zelle or Venmo?

Neither is universally safer in every situation; the safer choice depends on how you use it. Zelle is safer for speed and bank-to-bank transfers, but it offers very limited recovery if you send money to the wrong person or get scammed. Venmo may offer a bit more flexibility and some purchase-related protections in certain cases, but it is still risky for sending money to strangers. For trusted friends or family, both can be fine. For buying goods or services, a credit card or a platform with buyer protection is usually safer. The key is to match the tool to the transaction, not just the app name.
