How to Share Your Venmo Link (Personal and Business)
You want to get paid via Venmo, but you're not sure what link to share. Maybe you've been telling clients "my Venmo is @username" and hoping they type it right. There's a better way.
Here's how to find your Venmo link, share it, and make sure clients can actually pay you without hunting through the app.
How to Find Your Venmo Link
Your Venmo profile link follows this format:
https://venmo.com/u/YourUsername
To find your exact username:
- Open the Venmo app
- Tap the person icon (bottom right) or go to Settings
- Your username is listed under your name, starting with @
- Your shareable link is
venmo.com/u/YourUsername
Venmo Business Profile Link
If you have a Venmo business profile, you get a cleaner link:
https://venmo.com/YourBusinessName
Find it by going to your business profile in the Venmo app and tapping "Share Profile."
How to Share Your Venmo QR Code
Venmo also generates a scannable QR code for your account:
- Open Venmo
- Tap the Scan icon at the top of the screen
- Tap "Show to Pay" or "My Code"
- Screenshot it or let the client scan it directly
QR codes work well for in-person services (cleaning, training, tutoring). But for remote clients, a link is always better since they can't scan their own phone screen.
Where to Share Your Venmo Link
- In a payment request email or text. "You can pay via Venmo here: [link]"
- In your Instagram/social media bio. Though a raw Venmo link looks unprofessional.
- On your website. Add it to your contact or payment page.
- In a quote or proposal. Include it in the payment terms section.
The Problem With Sharing Just a Venmo Link
Venmo works well, but sharing only your Venmo link creates problems:
- Not everyone uses Venmo. Some clients prefer PayPal, Zelle, or paying by card. If you only share Venmo, you lose those payments.
- It looks informal. Sending "pay me at venmo.com/u/janedoe123" in a business email doesn't feel professional.
- No payment tracking. Venmo doesn't tell you who has and hasn't paid. You're checking the app manually.
- No reminders. If the client forgets, you have to follow up yourself.
Better Approach: One Link With All Your Payment Methods
Instead of sharing your Venmo link by itself, create a payment page that includes Venmo alongside all your other options.
Payable.at lets you build a single payment page with:
- Venmo (link or QR code)
- PayPal
- Zelle
- Credit/debit card (via Stripe)
- Cash App
- Check instructions
- Any other method you accept
You get one clean URL like payable.at/yourname that you share everywhere. The client opens it and picks whichever method works for them. You're not limiting yourself to one app.
You can also send payment requests with automatic reminders, so you don't have to check Venmo to see if someone paid.
Quick Comparison: Raw Venmo Link vs. Payment Page
| Venmo Link Only | Payment Page (Payable.at) | |
|---|---|---|
| Payment methods | Venmo only | All methods in one place |
| Professional look | Basic | Branded page with your name |
| Payment tracking | Check Venmo manually | Built-in tracking |
| Reminders | You follow up manually | Automated |
| Client flexibility | Must have Venmo | Client chooses their preferred method |
