PayPal QR Code: How to Set Up and Accept Payments
PayPal QR codes let you accept in-person payments at a lower fee than standard online PayPal transactions. Here's how to set up and use them.
PayPal QR Code Fees
PayPal QR code payments are charged at the in-person rate: 2.29% + $0.09 per transaction. That's cheaper than PayPal's online rate of 2.99% + $0.49.

How to Create Your PayPal QR Code
- Open the PayPal app
- Tap "Scan / QR Code" at the bottom or top of the screen
- Tap "My Code"
- Your QR code appears, ready to be scanned
If you have a PayPal Business account, you can also create a QR code from the PayPal Business app or PayPal.com/qrcode.
How Clients Pay
- Client opens their PayPal app
- Taps "Scan"
- Points camera at your QR code
- Enters amount and confirms
The payment goes to your PayPal balance immediately.
When to Use PayPal QR Codes
- In-person service work (cleaning, repairs, training)
- Clients who have PayPal but not Venmo
- When you want lower fees than standard PayPal online
- International clients (PayPal QR works globally)
The Limitation
